RESOURCES FOR FORMER LANL EMPLOYEES AND RETIREES

Things to Consider
As a retiree or former employee of Los Alamos National Laboratory, you may have benefit questions and considerations. Find answers and get direction here to help you make decisions for your financial future.
Former Employees
- Former employees may be eligible for COBRA health insurance. COBRA may allow you to continue healthcare coverage for you and your dependents at group rates. Learn more to determine whether COBRA coverage makes sense for you by emailing benefits@lanl.gov.
- Keep your contact information up to date. We can’t contact you if we can’t find you! LANL needs to provide you with benefit information and other legal notices. Please keep your address, beneficiary information, and other contact information up to date.
Retirees
- The Laboratory strongly encourages retirees to set up direct debit for all premium payments so that your payments will be on time, ensuring no lapse in coverage. Contact Empyrean at 1-844-805-0002 to establish or change your direct debit information. Direct debit is administered by a third party named Billing Services who can be reached at 1-833-874-1600.
- The Laboratory requires you and/or your eligible dependent(s) to enroll in Medicare Parts A and B as soon as you are first eligible. You need to have Medicare Parts A and B in place by the first of the month in which you turn 65 or, if you are eligible, earlier than age 65. If you enroll in Part B and then later cancel that enrollment, you will no longer be eligible for coverage under the Laboratory retiree medical plans. Reinstatement is not available.
